Poppy Seed Snail (Mohnschnecke)
Mohnschnecken are a staple in most German bakeries. especially the Bavarian ones. The poppy seed snails are also common in Austria and Switzerland, where baking with poppy seeds is popular as well. Our Poppy Snails are leavened only with "Antje", our well-fed sourdough starter. This gives our Snails a more complex flavor and makes it gut-friendly. The long fermentation is one of the reasons for it. each bite offering the nutty richness of poppy seeds balanced with a lightly sweet dough and topped with a sugar/lemon glaze. They're a perfect addition to your morning or afternoon coffee.
