Obazda (Traditional Bavarian Cheese Spread)

Obazda is a classic Bavarian cheese spread, created in the 1920s to give new life to ripe Camembert. Today it’s a staple in beer gardens, served with pretzels, rye bread, radishes, and a cold beer, garnished with paprika and chives.
In Franconia (Bianca's Bavarian home region), you’ll also find Obazda in seasonal Heckenwirtschaften (wine taverns), where it’s enjoyed with hearty rye bread and a glass of Silvaner or other chilled white wines.
